2.7 Blending. Just as with the process of combining the parts of a blend are a result of shortening one or more names into combining forms used to make new names. There are two or three degrees of blending. In the first case neither original form changes, so that the result is simply a juxtaposition of the two names. The intermediate case differs from the first in that the end of the first form is common with the beginning of the second form. The final case involves a substantial change in either or both forms combining.
