case [nCase] a grammatical feature in many languages used to distinguish nouns by their syntax in relation to the verb of the sentence; in Latin and Greek this feature occurs on most nouns by means of a suffix, e.g., “Roma” vs. “Romae;” vs. “Romam;” cf.
