family of procreation

a family (sibship) which an individual brings into being on marriage (cf. family of orientation); multiple marriages may create multiple f. of p. for the spouses of the marriages. The definition of a f. of p. does not depend on the disposition or capability of either one or both spouses to participate in the procreation process. (Cf. E. A.
