frequency ratio

the frequency of a given comparison outcome among matched or truly linked records (cf. reliability) compared to the frequency among random comparisons (cf. coincidence, general frequency); the f. r. may relate to the outcome of comparisons of specific values or of non-specific values; the f. r. may be expressed as a field weight; for H. B. Newcombe the f. r. has a “numerator” and “denominator” (cf. ratio). (Cf. Newcombe, 1988, p. 102).
