Phondex code

a name code similar to the NYSIIS code but using any number of ordered replacement rules possibly taking account of longer stretches of the name (not just two or three characters at a time) and more environments to yield a rough phonetic representation; output of the rules at various stages may be considered for different purposes: the so-called phonetic, dialect and coding levels. There may be a different set of Phondex rules for each culture or language.
