1) the proportion as an estimate of the probability that a field in all the records of a file will have data in it [cf. Ch. 3, §1, ¶1]; 2) the square of the file p. is the field p. of the records in a comparison, which may serve in making an estimate of a) blocking efficiency (cf. recall, precision) and b) the outcome probability of a particular comparison weight.
