Russell Soundex code

a name code using the following rules: omit the vowels, h, y and w; reduce doubled letters to single ones; retain the initial letter and code the next three as follows: b, f, p, v > 1; c, g, j, k, q, s, x, z > 2; d, t > 3; l > 4; m, n > 5; r > 6; if the second letter has the same code as the first would have had if coded, it is omitted; one of two letters with the same code (without an intervening [now deleted] vowel) is not coded; fill out to three digits with 0's; also called the Soundex code
