oblique case form

a grammatically systematic deviant of a citation (nominal case, standard) spelling of a name; in Europe the o. occurs often in Latin, Greek, and Latinized Greek, e.g. “Joannis”, “Joanne” or “Joannem” for “Joannes”, cf. Chapter 1, §3, ¶3 & Chapter 3, §1, ¶6
