1) that portion of the postpositive title phrase originally assigned by a society to distinguish between several people of the same name; an e. differs from most other surnames by possibly being preceded by an article in some cultures; an e. is introduced in PS-RULE [PS6]; cf. Chapter 3, §3, ¶8 2) a set of one or more name pieces as introduced in PS-RULEs LP3 & LP6 and defined in LP8; an e. may be one of the following: a) a noun (often derived from an adjective), which may be preceeded by an article, b) a surname, c) a article followed by an ordinal number or else d) the corresponding roman numeral
