1) the name carried by a person mainly for identification purposes; 2) a name string being a set of one or more name pieces as defined in PS-RULE [PS2]; a p. n. may have one or more of the following: honorific title phrase, given name phrase, sometimes the mid-positive title, i.e., the noun “Cardinal”, usually a surname phrase, and finally a postpositive title phrase; the study of p. n. is sometimes called anthroponymy, cf. chapter 1, §1
